About the Hawks

Augusta-Margaret River Football Club, known as “The Hawks”, entered the South West Football League (SWFL) in 1966.

Community

The Hawks community comprises many outstanding people who have contributed to the fabric of the club over many years. It is the individual commitment of these members and their desire to belong to the broader Hawks community, donate their time and effort and enjoy the emotional highs and lows, that is football, that makes the Hawks the great club that it is today.

The Hawks are based at Gloucester Park, Margaret River, with our club facilities first built in 1976 and extended to their current glory in 1978. The Hawks were the first football club outside the metropolitan area to be granted a full liquor licence.

Since entering the competition the Hawks have been League Premiers in 1994 and 1995, Reserves Premiers in 1980, 1994 and 1996 and Colts Premiers in 1991 and 1992. 2011 was an outstanding year for the Hawks – Premiership Winners in League, Reserves and Netball.

The first time in the clubs 55 year history we finished Minor Premiers and then topped it off with winning the flag as League Premiers 2021.

Hawks players who have also achieved great success include SWFL Fairest and Best Hayward Medallist winners Michael Merritt (1966), Ross Tyson (1976 & 1977), Peter Ivanoff (1981), Richie Lee (1985 & 1986), Justin Cook (1990), Jeremy Humm (2012), Mitch Lynn (2018) and Simon Moore (2021).

The Hawks continue to enjoy great support from the local community and would like to thank all our sponsors.
